Weight Won The Battle But Not The War
For the first time in my life I looked in the mirror and I was upset with the way I looked. I had let my weight get out of control. I was in a downward spiral where the enemy was pizza, the couch and Vampire Diaries.
Stepping on the scale was my worst nightmares come true. 150 lbs, how could I let myself go this far. I’m short standing at only 5 feet. Being on the front lines of a weight battle was difficult. Once you are in a certain routine it can be difficult to break, and I had the worst habits.
Sure I would go to the gym for few weeks and do some exercises that I hated. Maybe work out my ab muscles if you can call them that. Then I’d end up the treadmill for 10 minutes and be bored out of my mind. I declared war on the gym and it was just another battle I had to fight.
It was like I was in an endless time loop of going to gym getting frustrated and quitting. Just to get frustrated with the way I looked and beginning the cycle all over again. This would go on for a few years until I waved the white flag and gave in to the weight.
The Turning Point
The day I reached rock bottom I was staring in the mirror at a face I know longer recognized. Defeated by past tries to conquer my weight gain. I decided that night to do some weight loss research because I needed a drastic change.
I investigated the internet like I was trying to solve Jack the Ripper’s true identity. I spent hours on every major weight loss website and watching YouTube videos.
Then like a light shining down a dark road illuminating a path behind enemy lines I found the solution to my problem. With this new information I was ready to take on my weight and the gym head on.
The 2 week diet! Of course like anybody else I was skeptical of a quick weight loss program. At this point I was willing to give anything a try. I found a new motivation and set out to lose 20 pounds in 4 weeks.
First 3 Weeks
The first three days were the hardest. All I wanted to do was curl up in my bed and binge watch a Netflix series or two. I needed to form new good habits of eating right and going to the gym and kill off the old bad habits. When I couldn’t make it to the gym I did a work out at home instead of eating pizza and lounging on the couch.
Week 1 was finally complete and it was hell. I was so proud of myself and I lost 4 pounds in my first week! I’d never lost that much weight in a week. From that point on I knew I could win the war and nothing was going to stop me.
The next 2 weeks flew by and all the dead weight was falling off. I was now down another 11 pounds bringing me to a total of 15 pounds lost. I couldn’t contain my excitement. I had pants that I hadn’t worn since college that were now fitting. I couldn’t stay out of the mirror.
My Final Week And Beyond…
I finally made it to my final week. And my goal was right there just waiting for me grab it. This week I was determined to make my best week. At this point, I had established good eating habits, I enjoyed working out, and I cut down on the Netflix. After a great final week I stepped on the scale and I lost another 9 pounds!
I couldn’t believe how far I’d come. I was winning the war against my weight. I was down to 126 lbs. With the knowledge that I’ve gained I now know how to keep the weight off and continue to build on the good habits that I have gained over the month.
